This visit addressed two priorities: add robust surge protection at the main panel and restore reliable, code-friendly illumination in the crawlspace with a durable keyless lamp holder.
Whole-House Surge Protection Installed at the Main Panel
We installed a panel-mounted surge protective device (SPD) designed to divert excess voltage safely to ground before it can travel through the home’s wiring. This helps shield sensitive electronics and hardwired equipment from voltage spikes caused by storms, utility grid fluctuations, and large appliances cycling on and off.

- Helps extend the lifespan of appliances, electronics, and electrical components by reducing cumulative surge damage.
- Warranty: Includes a $10,000, 3-year warranty covering home appliances in the unlikely event of SPD failure.
Warranty notes provided with the device: All claims are secondary to your existing insurance policy, and direct lightning strikes are excluded. “Covered Equipment” may include washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, HVAC unit located inside the house, trash compactor, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, wiring, outlets/switches, electrical system components (breakers, etc.), and other hard-wired appliances/devices such as built-in microwaves, furnace, air handlers, evaporator coils, hardwired ranges, landscape lighting, and home lighting, when protected with a properly connected Boltshield SPD. Security systems and medical equipment are not included and are specifically excluded from Covered Equipment.

The old crawlspace light had failed, limiting access and visibility. We removed the non-working fixture and installed a new, reliable keyless light. This simple upgrade provides consistent illumination for inspections, maintenance, and moisture checks—while minimizing moving parts and future failure points.
