Project overview
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team (based out of Matthews) completed a whole-house surge protection installation for Randy Folsom in Mount Holly, NC. On November 3, 2025, our technician Jose Rodriguez installed a surge protective device (SPD) at the home’s main electrical panel as part of our Panels & Service Upgrades service. This whole-home surge protector provides layered defense for appliances, electronics, and the electrical system by diverting excess voltage safely to ground.
With frequent power grid fluctuations and sudden spikes from equipment cycling on and off, whole-house surge protection is a smart upgrade for Mount Holly homeowners who want to extend the life of their devices and reduce the risk of costly replacements after a surge event.

By stopping damaging overvoltage at the panel, the SPD helps safeguard appliances and sensitive electronics throughout the home.
Warranty highlights and coverage
The installed whole-home surge protector includes appliance coverage up to $50,000 for 10 years in the unlikely event of a failure to protect.
- Claims: All claims are secondary to the homeowner’s existing insurance policy.
- Exclusions: Direct lightning strikes are excluded.
- Covered Equipment includes:
- Washer and dryer
- Refrigerator and freezer
- HVAC unit located inside the house
- Trash compactor
- Dishwasher
- Garbage disposal
- Stove
- Wiring, outlets/switches, and electrical system components (breakers, etc.)
- All hard-wired appliances/devices (including built-in microwaves, furnace, air handlers, evaporator coils, hardwired ranges, landscape lighting, and home lighting) when these items are protected with a properly connected Boltshield SPD
- Not included: Security systems and medical equipment are not covered.
