Touchstone Electric’s Matthews branch, part of our Charlotte team, completed a targeted safety and reliability upgrade for homeowner Rohin Sarkar in Waxhaw, NC. Led by technician Briar Davis, the project focused on strengthening the home’s grounding, adding whole-house surge protection, and updating key breakers to support everyday appliances and future needs.
What we upgraded
- Grounding system improvement: We installed a new ground rod (driven approximately 8 feet) and replaced the existing grounding electrode conductor with a continuous run back to the main service panel. This provides a low-impedance path to earth and enhances overall electrical safety.
- Whole-home surge protector: A panel-mounted surge protective device was installed at the main electrical panel to divert excess voltage to ground. - Two 20‑amp tandem breakers: We installed two tandem breakers to serve small-appliance circuits, helping ensure the panel space is used effectively while providing proper overcurrent protection.
Together, these upgrades improve grounding integrity, add a critical layer of surge defense at the service entrance, and ensure the home’s circuits are protected with properly sized, reliable breakers.
