Whole-Home Surge Protection Installation in Rock Hill, SC

On May 9, 2025, our Matthews-based Charlotte team completed a Whole-House Surge Protection project for Marion Funderburk in Rock Hill, SC. As part of our Panels & Service Upgrades services, technician Mark Viktorovich installed a whole-home surge protector at the main electrical panel to help safeguard appliances, electronics, and the home’s electrical system from damaging voltage spikes.

Why Surge Protection Matters

Power surges can originate from lightning activity, utility grid fluctuations, and even normal cycling of large household equipment. These brief but intense events can degrade sensitive internal components over time, shortening the lifespan of your devices or causing sudden failure. A properly installed whole-home surge protector diverts excess voltage safely to ground before it reaches your circuits, delivering broad protection for your household systems.

What We Installed at the Main Panel

We installed a premium, panel-mounted surge protective device (SPD) designed for whole-home coverage. Positioned at the main service equipment, the SPD provides a first line of defense for branch circuits and connected loads. The installation included:

  • Mounting and wiring the SPD at the main electrical panel in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable electrical codes
  • Confirming proper grounding and bonding for effective surge diversion
  • Labeling the device and verifying operation indicators
  • Final safety checks to help ensure reliable, ongoing protection

This solution aligns with our focus on Panels & Service Upgrades and complements other electrical safety improvements for Rock Hill homeowners.

Warranty Coverage Summary

The installed surge protector includes a 10-year coverage up to $50,000 for covered home equipment in the unlikely event of device failure. Claims are secondary to any existing homeowner’s insurance. Direct lightning strikes are excluded.

Examples of “Covered Equipment” include many common household systems and hardwired devices when protected with a properly connected Boltshield SPD, such as:

  • Washer, dryer, refrigerator, and freezer
  • Dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, and built-in microwave
  • HVAC equipment located inside the home, furnace, air handlers, and evaporator coils
  • Hardwired ranges, landscape lighting, and home lighting
  • Wiring, outlets/switches, breakers, and other electrical system components

Security systems and medical equipment are not included and are specifically excluded from coverage.
