Our Raleigh branch completed a comprehensive Panels & Service Upgrades project with Whole-House Surge Protection for homeowner Argashia Lewter in Chapel Hill, NC. Led by technician Cody Perry and finished on November 22, 2024, this installation delivers safer, more reliable power to the entire home and provides long-term protection from damaging electrical surges.

What We Installed
- Whole-home surge protector with a $100,000 / 10-year warranty on connected home appliances and electronics. Installed at the main service equipment to intercept and divert excess voltage safely to ground.
- 150A meter/panel combo including coordination with the power provider for a scheduled drop, permit pulling, installation, and a complete grounding system with ground rods and grounding electrode conductors.
- Riser and weatherhead assembly using IMC conduit, straps, roof boot, and new service entrance cable from the meter to the weatherhead for a clean, code-compliant service mast.
- PVC conduit (2-inch) and THHN 2/0 feeder conductors to support present load needs and future-ready capacity where applicable.
- Breaker updates to improve reliability and organization:
- Two 100A 2-pole breakers (supporting subpanel needs)
- One 30A double-pole breaker (typical for large dedicated loads)
- One 20A double-pole breaker (for small appliances/dedicated circuits)
- One 15A standard breaker (branch circuits and lighting)
Together, these upgrades strengthen the home’s electrical infrastructure, enhance safety, and set a strong foundation for future projects or added loads.

Our team handled permitting, scheduling the utility power drop, and proper grounding for a safe, compliant installation. As inspectors in our area continue implementing NEC 2020, some homes may require AFCI breaker upgrades for specific circuits. In certain cases—such as circuits with shared neutrals—AFCIs can reveal preexisting wiring conditions that need correction. We’re prepared to diagnose and resolve these issues to help ensure a smooth inspection and long-term reliability.
When needed, we can also arrange limited temporary power options during scheduled outages to keep essential items running while work is completed.
