Whole-Home Surge Protection and Grounding Upgrade in Roxboro, NC
Our Raleigh branch completed a comprehensive electrical safety upgrade for Edward Betts in Roxboro, NC. On December 29, 2025, technician Jared Mata installed dual whole-house surge protectors and modernized the home’s grounding electrode system to help ensure safer, code-aligned power throughout the property.
What We Upgraded
- Grounding Electrode System Upgrade: We drove a new ground rod and replaced the grounding electrode conductor with a continuous run to the main service panel (within the specified distance). A robust, low-impedance grounding path helps safely dissipate fault current and surge energy, supporting modern electrical safety requirements.
- Dual Whole-House Surge Protectors: Two surge protective devices (SPDs) were installed at the main electrical panel to intercept voltage spikes from lightning-induced surges, utility fluctuations, or large appliances switching on and off. By diverting excess voltage to ground before it travels through the home’s wiring, these SPDs help protect connected equipment and extend the life of sensitive electronics.
Layering high-quality SPDs with a properly upgraded grounding system provides a strong first line of defense for the home’s electrical infrastructure, appliances, and electronics.

Coverage and Warranties
The installed surge protection system includes a $100,000 / 10-year equipment coverage from the manufacturer (claims are secondary to your existing insurance policy and direct lightning strikes are excluded). “Covered Equipment” typically includes washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, HVAC equipment located inside the home, trash compactor, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, wiring, outlets/switches, electrical system components (like breakers), and hardwired devices such as built-in microwaves, furnace, air handlers, evaporator coils, hardwired ranges, landscape lighting, and home lighting—when these items are protected with a properly connected Boltshield SPD. Security systems and medical equipment are not included.
