Project overview

Our Charlotte team, dispatched from our Matthews branch, partnered with MUSE Residential to modernize critical circuits and lighting in a Concord home. The scope focused on bringing the bathrooms and kitchen up to current code, adding dedicated appliance circuits, installing GFCI and AFCI protection where required, and replacing a small garage subpanel to support today’s electrical demands.

Bathrooms brought up to code

We carefully updated the electrical in two bathrooms to enhance safety, ventilation, and lighting quality. Our technicians worked within the existing layout, fishing new wiring through finished walls to minimize disruption and ensure a clean finish.

  • Rewired both bathrooms to current NEC requirements
  • Installed two new fan/can combinations for effective ventilation and illumination
  • Added GFCI protection to the basement bathroom’s shower-area fan/light for enhanced safety
  • Installed three new light fixtures for brighter, more efficient lighting
  • Relocated select outlets to improve usability and meet spacing requirements
  • Replaced aged switches and wall plates for a fresh, uniform look

Kitchen electrical upgrades and LED lighting

The kitchen received substantial electrical improvements to support a modern layout and efficient lighting plan. We updated switching, outlet locations, and protection, and we added new energy‑saving LEDs to deliver even, comfortable light across work surfaces.

  • Rewired switches and receptacles to the new plan and current code
  • Installed six 6‑inch wafer LED recessed lights for smooth, low‑profile ceiling lighting
  • Added LED tape lighting for under‑cabinet illumination and task visibility
  • Provided dedicated circuits for the refrigerator and microwave to reduce nuisance trips and ensure reliable performance

New mid-sized subpanel for capacity and protection

To make room for additional breakers and to accommodate AFCI requirements being enforced by local inspectors, we replaced the small garage subpanel with a properly sized indoor unit.

  • Installed a mid‑sized 12/24 indoor subpanel rated up to 125 amps
  • Ran a 4‑wire feeder from the main panel to the new subpanel for code‑compliant grounding and neutral separation
  • Added appropriately sized breakers, including a 125‑amp 2‑pole for the subpanel and new 20‑amp appliance circuits

Permitting, inspections, and final testing

We coordinated with the builder to be included on the project permit, then completed all required inspections. As part of our whole‑home rewiring process, we shut down power safely, removed outdated wiring, fished new conductors, reconnected devices, and restored service. Every circuit was tested and verified for proper operation, GFCI/AFCI protection, and correct labeling in the new subpanel.
