Outdoor Weatherproof GFCI Outlet Installed in Charlotte, NC

Touchstone Electric completed a weatherproof GFCI receptacle installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC. The project was performed by technician Christian Cedillos from our Charlotte team based in Matthews and was completed on November 4, 2025. The customer needed safe, code-compliant outdoor power at a specific location. To minimize disruption and maintain a clean look, we utilized the existing conduit that had been provisioned for an EV charger and delivered a dedicated, protected 20-amp solution built to handle the elements.

Reused existing EV conduit to route conductors neatly to the new outlet location.
25 ft of #12 THHN wiring sized for a 20-amp circuit and rated for use in conduit.
GFCI receptacle to provide ground-fault protection for outdoor use.

Dedicated 20-amp breaker installed in the service panel for reliable, isolated power.

Professional Installation and Testing

Our licensed electrician pulled #12 THHN conductors through the existing conduit, terminated the new GFCI outlet in a weather-resistant enclosure, and mounted a bubble cover for in-use protection. At the panel, we installed and labeled a dedicated 20-amp breaker, verified neutral and ground connections, and torqued lugs to spec. We then tested the receptacle for correct polarity, breaker function, and GFCI trip performance to confirm a safe, reliable installation ready for everyday use.
