Project overview
Touchstone Electric recently completed a clean, modern lighting upgrade for homeowner Derek Rogers in Charlotte, NC. Led by technician Mark Viktorovich from our Matthews-based Charlotte team, this Lighting & Ceiling Fans project focused on a seamless blend of ambient and task lighting. Completed on November 24, 2025, the scope included five wafer can lights, an under-cabinet LED system with transformer, a dimmer switch, a standard receptacle, and professionally routed NM-B wiring for a tidy finish.
What we installed
- 5 Wafer Can Lights: Low-profile LED downlights that deliver even illumination and fit easily in tight or shallow ceiling spaces.
- Under-Cabinet LED Lighting (6 ft): A streamlined light strip with protective casing to brighten work surfaces and reduce shadows.
- Under-Cabinet Transformer: Dedicated power supply matched to the light strip for reliable performance.
- Dimmer Switch: Smooth, adjustable lighting control to create the right mood and improve energy efficiency.
- Standard Receptacle: A convenient outlet with a fresh cover to support everyday appliance or device use.
- 55 ft of 14/2 NM-B Romex: Durable cable for 15-amp lighting and general-use applications, with any needed junction box included for clean connections.
Together, these upgrades deliver bright, comfortable illumination throughout the space while enhancing everyday usability at the countertop.

How we approached this Lighting Installation
Our team began with a quick layout plan to balance downlight spacing and under-cabinet coverage. We protected surrounding surfaces, made precise cutouts for the wafer cans, and set the transformer in an accessible, appropriate location for the LED strips. Wiring was routed using 14/2 NM-B to supply the new fixtures with clean terminations and junctions where needed. We then installed the dimmer and receptacle with fresh covers, tested each device, and confirmed smooth dimming and uniform light levels—leaving the area tidy and ready to enjoy.
