Outlet Installation & GFCI Breaker Upgrades in Wade Hampton, SC
Touchstone Electric’s Greenville team completed a safe, code-conscious upgrade for Kailey Seymour in Wade Hampton. On May 7, 2026, our technician, Tyler Harris, ran new 12/2 NM-B Romex from the exterior main panel, installed two 20A GFCI breakers, set a customer-supplied small appliance in place with the proper connection, and added a new standard outlet. This project enhanced protection for high-use receptacles and ensured reliable power where it’s needed most.
What We Did
- New circuit wiring: Pulled approximately 50 feet of 12/2 NM-B Romex from the exterior main panel to support 20-amp branch circuits for kitchen appliances, power outlets, and other higher-load devices. All junction boxes included where needed.
- Two 20A GFCI breakers: Added GFCI protection at the panel for receptacles commonly located in moisture-prone or utility areas such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages, exterior locations, crawl spaces, and basements.
- Small appliance installation (customer supplied): Connected the appliance with the appropriate receptacle or hard-wired configuration, ensuring proper amperage and secure terminations.
- Standard receptacle install: Installed a new general-use outlet with a clean cover plate to provide convenient, dependable access to power.
This combination of breaker upgrades and new wiring supports safer everyday use while helping reduce nuisance trips and potential hazards. Our team completed the work neatly and with attention to clear labeling and functionality checks.
Why GFCI Protection Matters
Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection is designed to help reduce the risk of electrical shock by quickly interrupting power when an imbalance is detected. It’s particularly important for receptacles near water and in utility areas, including bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages, exteriors, crawl spaces, and basements. By installing 20A GFCI breakers at the panel, we extended this layer of safety across the chosen circuits, providing whole-circuit protection for any connected outlets downstream.
Paired with appropriately sized 12/2 NM-B Romex, these circuits deliver the capacity needed for small appliances and general-purpose loads, providing both performance and peace of mind for daily use.
Materials and Components Used
- 50 ft 12/2 NM-B Romex: Suited for 20A circuits and commonly used for kitchen, laundry, and other higher-demand receptacle runs.
- (2) 20A GFCI breakers: Panel-based protection for shock hazard reduction across entire branch circuits.
- Small appliance hookup: Proper receptacle or hard-wire connection for the customer’s appliance as required.
- Standard receptacle and cover: Clean, professional finish and ready access to power.
