Bathroom Vent/Light Combo Installation in Candler, NC
Touchstone Electric completed a permitted bathroom upgrade for Re-Bath Charlotte in Candler, NC, featuring a new vent/light combo, a relocated switch box converted to a two-gang with two independent switches, and a re-centered sink light for better task lighting. This Lighting & Ceiling Fans project was handled by our Asheville team from our Hendersonville branch and wrapped up on May 4, 2026.
What We Did
- Installed a bathroom vent/light combo: Provided and wired an exhaust fan with integrated can light to improve moisture control and illumination.
- Relocated the switch box: Moved the existing switch location closer to the door and upgraded it to a two-gang box for separate fan and light control.
- Re-centered the sink light: Shifted one light fixture to align above the sink for even, focused lighting at the vanity.
- New wiring for separate controls: Pulled approximately 15 feet of NM-B Romex 14/3 to enable independent fan and light operation.
- Installed two standard switches: Clean, intuitive switching for daily use.
- Filed an electrical permit: All work performed under a proper electrical permit for code compliance and homeowner peace of mind.
Note: Electrical installation of the fan/light was included in scope; ducting and new circuit/breaker work were not part of this project.
Why This Matters for Your Bathroom
A properly sized and wired exhaust fan with integrated lighting helps clear humidity quickly, reducing the chance of condensation and mildew. Pairing that with a correctly centered vanity light improves visibility for grooming and daily routines. Separate switches let you run the fan without keeping the light on, or vice versa, improving comfort and energy efficiency.
Professional, Permitted Electrical Work
Every bathroom has unique framing, finishes, and access paths. Our licensed electricians plan the cable routing, protect finished surfaces, and confirm mounting points to keep the result clean and secure. For this project we:
- Verified framing/layout and determined the new switch box location near the entry.
- Pulled 14/3 cable to the vent/light combo for independent switching.
- Positioned the vanity light over the sink centerline for balanced illumination.
- Coordinated inspection under an electrical permit to meet local code.
Permit note: This job included only the electrical permit. If a project requires other non-electrical permits (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, Builder, or separate subcontractor permits), those are not included. If additional permits are needed, we identify them and can provide pricing to process them, or advise on how to obtain them.
