Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a detailed lighting upgrade for homeowner David Connor in Greensboro, NC. Led by technician Brad Williams, the project was completed on August 21, 2025 and focused on bright, efficient task lighting in the kitchen, a precise chandelier relocation, and a safe outdoor power addition.

This Lighting & Ceiling Fans project centered on clean finishes, reliable power, and smart placement—ideal for everyday use and entertaining. Our team handled all work on existing boxes and circuits, coordinating the right materials for long-lasting performance.

Scope of Work Completed

LED under-cabinet lighting: Installed low-profile LED tape lights to create even, shadow-free countertop illumination. We supplied and placed the necessary transformers for each light strip section and neatly concealed runs for a finished look.
Chandelier relocation: Moved the existing chandelier approximately one foot to better center over the dining area. We carefully fished wire through hard-to-reach spaces to preserve the ceiling’s appearance and ensured a secure mount on the new location.
GFCI porch outlet: Added a GFCI-protected receptacle on the back porch by tying into an existing circuit. This provides safer power outdoors for small appliances, lighting, or seasonal decor.
Multiple fixture installs: Installed customer-supplied lighting and fan fixtures on existing boxes/circuits, including medium fixtures (such as pendants, ceiling lights, or a chandelier) and simple fixtures (ceiling fans/lights), ensuring proper support and connections.

The result is a brighter kitchen, a centered statement fixture, and convenient outdoor power—delivered with attention to detail and respect for the home.

Materials and Methods Used

Under-cabinet lights: 20 ft of LED tape light with 2 transformers to support independent runs and consistent brightness.
Low-voltage cabling: 30 ft of 18/4 wire to feed and control the tape lights as specified by the layout.
Power wiring: 30 ft of NM-B 12/2 and 10 ft of NM-B 14/3 routed as needed for lighting and receptacle connections.
Fishing wire: 10 ft used to reach the chandelier’s new location with minimal disturbance to finished surfaces.
Receptacle: Added a protected porch outlet with cover for everyday outdoor use.
Crew support: An additional wireman assisted to keep the project efficient and on schedule.

Every connection was tightened, tested, and verified for consistent operation before we wrapped up the job.
