Touchstone Electric recently completed a professional Tesla Wall Connector installation for a homeowner in Winston-Salem, NC. Completed on March 28, 2025 by our technician Viktor Opalko, this garage installation was set on the same wall as the home’s electrical panel for a clean, efficient setup.

Project Overview
The customer’s garage panel was ideally positioned, allowing us to mount the Tesla Wall Connector about 15 feet to the left on the same wall. This layout minimizes wire runs and helps maintain a tidy appearance while meeting code requirements for a dedicated EV charging circuit.
What We Installed
- Tesla Wall Connector (customer-supplied), hardwired in the garage
- 60A standard breaker dedicated for EV charging
- 25 feet of #6 SEU (3-wire) cable for the feeder
- 1-inch PVC conduit (approximately 20 feet) with connectors and fittings for a durable surface-mounted pathway
- Electrical permit filed with the county
All components were installed to support reliable charging performance and long-term durability in a typical garage environment.
How We Completed the Installation
- Confirmed the dedicated circuit requirements for the Tesla Wall Connector.
- Planned a direct, surface-mounted conduit route on the same wall as the panel.
- Mounted the Wall Connector securely at a convenient charging height.
- Pulled #6 SEU conductors through 1-inch PVC conduit and made terminations.
- Installed a new 60A breaker and completed final testing and verification.
The result is a neat, code-compliant installation that allows the homeowner to charge confidently at home without relying on public stations.
Permitting and Local Requirements
Touchstone Electric handled the electrical permit filing with the county for this project. Please note: permit needs can vary by jurisdiction. The permit included for this job was for the electrical scope only. If a Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, Subcontractor, Builder, or other non-electrical permit is required for a future project, it would be separate. If additional permits are needed, we’ll advise you on what to handle and can provide pricing if you’d like us to process non-electrical permits.
