Completed Tesla Wall Connector Installation in Fort Mill, SC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (serving the area from our Matthews location) completed a professional, permit-backed Tesla Universal Wall Connector installation for Priyanka Ghosh in Fort Mill, SC. On 2026-08-10, our licensed electricians Michael Bentkowski and Mark Alaev delivered a clean, code-compliant solution designed for safe, reliable EV charging at home.

Project Overview

This garage installation focused on creating a dedicated, hardwired circuit for a customer-supplied Tesla Universal Wall Connector. To protect the home’s electrical system and meet local code, our team installed a new feeder and breaker sized appropriately for Tesla charging, neatly routed in surface-mounted conduit along the garage wall. We also removed an older EV plug to prevent competing loads that could stress the system in the future.

What We Installed

  • Electrical permit filed: We handled the county electrical permit to ensure inspection-readiness and full compliance.
  • Dedicated 60A circuit: Installed a new 60 amp breaker specifically for the Tesla Wall Connector to support higher charging loads safely.
  • #6 SEU wiring: Pulled approximately 20 feet of 3-conductor #6 SEU cable appropriate for a 60A EV charging circuit.
  • 1-inch PVC conduit: About 18 feet of PVC conduit was surface-mounted with listed fittings, connectors, and supports for a tidy, durable run.
  • Hardwired connection: The Tesla Universal Wall Connector was securely mounted and hardwired on the new dedicated circuit.
  • Old EV plug removed: Decommissioned the existing EV receptacle to avoid potential overloading by multiple high-draw EV devices.

The result is a clean, professional installation that aligns with Tesla’s guidance and local code requirements, providing dependable Level 2 charging for daily use.

Why a Dedicated 60A EV Circuit Matters

Hardwiring a Tesla Wall Connector on its own 60A breaker helps deliver faster Level 2 charging while reducing nuisance trips and preventing shared-circuit overloads. A purpose-built EV charging circuit also simplifies permitting and inspection and enhances long-term system reliability in your garage.

Code Compliance and Permitting

Our team filed the electrical permit for this Fort Mill project and performed the work to code so the installation is inspection-ready. Note: only the electrical permit was included. If a project requires additional non-electrical permits (such as zoning or historic), those are not included; if needed, we’ll advise you on next steps and can provide pricing to process those separately.

Customer Feedback

We appreciate our customers and the trust they place in our team. Priyanka Ghosh shared a review of this Tesla charger installation. You can read it here:
