Touchstone Electric recently completed a clean, code-compliant Tesla Wall Connector installation for a Charlotte, NC homeowner. Per the homeowner’s request, our team mounted the charger on the right side of the electrical panel and set it level with the top of the panel for a tidy, integrated look. This residential EV charging project was handled by our Charlotte branch, serving the metro from our Matthews location, and was completed on March 31, 2026 by technicians Mark Alaev and Tyquan Johnson.

Scope of work

Installed a Tesla Wall Connector (Level 2) on a dedicated 60A circuit.
Set charger height to align with the top of the existing panel, right-side placement for convenience and neatness.
Pulled new #6 SEU cable and ran protective conduit for a durable, professional finish.
Added a new 60A breaker specifically for the EV circuit.
Addressed panel space constraints by providing a special Square D Homeline quad breaker to free up capacity as needed.
Secured the required electrical permit in Charlotte and prepared documentation to support the Duke Energy EV rebate process.

Neat, code-compliant installation

We follow manufacturer specifications and local electrical code for every EV charging project. Conductors were properly sized and terminations torqued to spec, the circuit was labeled, and conduit runs were kept clean and direct. Because the homeowner wanted the charger aligned with the top of the panel, our team created a precise pathway for wiring and maintained a professional look throughout.

Drywall access and homeowner finish work

To route the new wiring cleanly to the charger location, minor sheetrock access was required. Touchstone Electric completed the electrical scope and left the area workmanlike; any drywall patching, texturing, or painting is by others.
