Touchstone Electric’s Greenville team (based in Taylors) completed a comprehensive Panels & Service Upgrades project with Whole-House Surge Protection for homeowner Kim Chafee in Campobello, SC. The work was performed by our technicians Aaron Smith and Tyler Harris and wrapped up on July 24, 2025.
This project blended protection, safety, and convenience: a whole-home surge protective device at the main panel, relocated appliance power for better layout, new outlets and switches for everyday usability, and improved ventilation and lighting.
Scope of Work Performed

- Relocated water heater power with safety disconnect: Moved the water heater line and added a code-required pull-out disconnect to provide a safe, convenient way to isolate power for service.
- Relocated dryer power: Ran a new 240V circuit for the dryer in its new location and removed the old dryer plug to prevent confusion or accidental use.
- New convenience outlets: Added an outlet in the wash room and another in the adjacent hallway to reduce reliance on extension cords and improve day-to-day functionality.
- Switch additions: Installed standard switches for improved control of new and existing fixtures.
- Exterior porch light install: Mounted and wired a customer-supplied porch light on the existing box/circuit for safer nighttime entry and curb appeal.
- Bathroom exhaust fan: Installed a customer-supplied bath fan, including replacing the housing, cutting drywall as needed, reworking duct connection, and tying into existing power for better moisture control.
- Professional wiring methods: Utilized NM-B cable for new circuits, flexible liquidtight conduit where appropriate, and expert wire-fishing through attic and crawlspace areas to minimize drywall damage.
