Scope of work completed
- Installed a midsized indoor subpanel (12/24, up to 125 amps): Added safe capacity for present and future circuits, improved circuit organization, and created room for upgrades without overloading the main panel.
- Replaced standard breakers (15A and 20A): Addressed several aging or underperforming breakers and updated labeling, including circuits such as bathroom lighting, to improve reliability and clarity for future service.
- Whole-home surge protection: Mounted a premium surge protective device at the main electrical panel to divert excess voltage to ground during lightning events, utility fluctuations, or equipment cycling—helping guard sensitive electronics and extend the life of appliances with a manufacturer-backed warranty.
- Electrical cleanup and safety corrections: Verified tight, correct terminations; removed abandoned conductors; eliminated open hot wires; and dressed wiring for a neat, serviceable panel area.
- Permitting and inspections: Filed the electrical permit with the county and scheduled the required inspections to deliver a fully documented, code-conscious installation.
- Additional manpower: Brought in a qualified wireman to ensure an efficient timeline and thorough quality checks.
Why Matthews homeowners add a subpanel
A subpanel is a smart way to expand capacity and streamline your home’s electrical layout without a full service change. In Matthews, NC, homeowners often choose a subpanel when adding high-demand appliances, finishing a basement, building an addition, or preparing for projects like EV charging, workshops, or outdoor living upgrades. A properly sized subpanel creates future-ready space, improves circuit separation, and can make maintenance and troubleshooting faster.
Surge protection that safeguards your whole home
Voltage spikes from storms, grid disturbances, or large appliances starting up can silently wear down electronics and HVAC components. The whole-home surge protector we installed at the main panel provides a fast, low-resistance path to ground, helping prevent damaging overvoltage from reaching your devices. Pairing surge protection with a tidy, well-organized panel is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect today’s sensitive electronics.
Code-conscious breaker updates
Modern electrical codes increase protection requirements for many living areas and specific circuits. Our team evaluates existing conditions and replaces aging or non-performing breakers while advising on current protection standards for your home. In this Matthews project, we addressed multiple 15A and 20A breakers, refreshed labeling, and verified that terminations and panel organization met best practices and the permitted scope.
