Subpanel Installation & Dedicated Circuits in Clover, SC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a fully permitted subpanel installation for homeowner Kim Robbins in Clover, SC. Led by technician Danny Bishop, this project added safe, code-compliant capacity for an air compressor, a golf cart charging outlet, and an attic fan—without overloading the home’s existing electrical system.

Date completed: September 19, 2024 | Service category: Panels & Service Upgrades — Subpanel Installation

Project overview

The homeowner needed additional power in the garage and attic for new equipment and better ventilation. Our team installed a 60A garage subpanel and ran dedicated circuits to each load so the equipment could operate safely and efficiently without tripping breakers or sharing power with general-use outlets.

Scope of work

  • 60A Subpanel (indoor, midsized 12/24) installed in the garage to expand circuit capacity for present and future needs.
  • 20A dedicated circuit mounted below the subpanel for an air compressor, providing stable power for startup and sustained operation.
  • 20A dedicated exterior circuit on the right side of the home for a golf cart outlet, offering convenient charging access in a weather-appropriate location.
  • 15A dedicated attic circuit for an attic fan, run in UF cable through conduit in the side chase for protection and long-term reliability.
  • Feeder and materials: #4 SER aluminum feeder sized for the 60A subpanel and future flexibility.
  • Permitting: Electrical permit obtained with the county to ensure inspection and compliance with local and NEC standards.

Why dedicated circuits and a subpanel?

  • Improved safety: Sensitive or high-demand equipment gets its own circuit, reducing overload and nuisance tripping risks.
  • Better performance: Dedicated power helps tools and appliances start and run smoothly.
  • Room to grow: The subpanel allows for additional circuits later without reworking the main panel.
  • Code compliance: Proper wiring methods, conductor sizing, and protection help ensure a safe, up-to-code installation.

Permits, code, and workmanship

As a licensed electrical contractor, Touchstone Electric secured the electrical permit and completed the installation to meet applicable codes. Note: every jurisdiction can require different permits for certain projects. Our electrical permit covers the electrical scope; other non-electrical permits (such as zoning, environmental, or historic) are not included unless specifically arranged.

Our Matthews/Charlotte team emphasizes neat panel layout, correct conductor sizing, protected exterior runs, and labeling for ease of maintenance.
