Subpanel Feeder, 60A Breaker & Appliance Hookup in Morrisville, NC
On May 17, 2024, our Raleigh branch completed a Panels & Service Upgrades project in Morrisville, NC for homeowner Krishna Pokhrel. Led by technician Cody Perry, the scope included installing a new 60-amp breaker, running approximately 15 feet of THHN #4 feeder conductors in 1-inch PVC conduit for a subpanel, and completing a customer-supplied major appliance hookup. An electrical permit was filed and the required inspections were scheduled.
Project scope and materials
- 60A breaker installation: Added a new 60-amp standard breaker to provide a dedicated feeder for a small subpanel and to support the connected load as designed.
- Subpanel feeder run: Installed approximately 15 feet of THHN #4 feeder conductors in 1-inch PVC conduit, with proper support and fittings for a neat, code-conscious pathway.
- Appliance hookup: Completed a major appliance connection (customer supplied), providing either a listed receptacle or hard-wired connection as appropriate to the equipment and manufacturer instructions.
- Permit and inspections: Filed the electrical permit with the local authority and coordinated the inspection process for compliance verification.
This work supports the customer’s current electrical needs and leaves room for future flexibility with a properly sized feeder to a subpanel.
Why a 60A feeder and 1-inch PVC in Morrisville homes?
For many homes in Morrisville, a 60-amp feeder is a practical choice for small subpanels and dedicated loads, offering balanced capacity without overbuilding. Running THHN conductors in 1-inch PVC helps protect the wiring, allows for clean routing, and facilitates straightforward serviceability. The result is a tidy, durable installation that’s designed to integrate with existing systems and future plans.
Code-conscious installation and permitting
Electrical work that adds a breaker, creates a new feeder, or connects a major appliance typically requires a permit. For this project, Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit and scheduled the appropriate inspections. Our Raleigh team follows manufacturer guidance for terminations and clear labeling to make inspections and future servicing more efficient.
