Project Scope
- Installed 7 solar motion floodlights to enhance perimeter safety and nighttime convenience.

- Upgraded the garage light to a track light with motion-preferred functionality for hands-free operation.
- Ran a new switch leg from the existing box up through the attic to support the chandelier control and dimming.
- Handled a high-ceiling fixture install (difficult, >14 ft) and a standard fixture install on existing boxes/circuits.
- Fishing and wiring: 30 ft of fishing through hard-to-reach spaces and 35 ft of NM-B 14/2 wire for a tidy, reliable finish.
- Additional onsite assistance from an electrician apprentice to maintain efficiency and a clean workspace.
Our Installation Approach
We began with a thorough assessment of the existing lighting controls and locations, confirming ideal positions for the seven solar motion floodlights to maximize coverage and minimize glare. Each sensor was tested and adjusted for sensitivity and duration to suit the property’s layout.
Inside, we prepared the dining room for a new chandelier by converting the existing outlet switch into the chandelier’s dedicated control. We fished a new switch leg from the current box into the attic and down to the chandelier location, then installed a dimmer for flexible ambiance. A second dimmer was added for the kitchen can lights to create comfortable task and evening lighting.
At the time of service, it was not possible to confirm whether the existing can lights were dimmable. We clearly informed the homeowner that, if needed, we would provide a separate estimate to replace non-dimmable fixtures with dimmable versions to ensure proper performance with the new controls.
For the garage, we replaced the existing light with a track light configured for motion-preferred use — a practical solution for arriving with hands full and for better directional illumination. Where required, we used NM-B 14/2 wire and professional wire-fishing techniques to maintain a clean finish without unnecessary drywall damage.
