Pool Electrical Project in Salisbury, NC
Touchstone Electric completed a specialty pool and hot tub electrical project in Salisbury, NC for Ivy Creek Pools on May 14, 2026. Led by technician Chris Rogers from our Charlotte team based out of Matthews, this permitted and inspected installation included a customer-supplied pool control panel, equipment hookups, four pool lights with a transformer, multiple new breakers, and a weather-resistant GFCI receptacle with a bubble cover.
This page highlights the scope of work, safety features, and how we delivered a clean, code-focused result for a reliable backyard pool setup.
What We Installed
- Pool Control Panel (customer-supplied): Installed with the required breaker at the main panel and a code-required receptacle located at the equipment area. Installation covered permitting and inspections.
- Equipment Hookups (3): Power runs from the pool control panel to the pump, heater, and air blower, tied in using manufacturer-specified low-voltage relays where needed.
- Pool Lights (4): Connected four fixtures (customer-provided) using factory whips and a dedicated low-voltage transformer. Touchstone Electric provided the THHN grounding conductor and fed it through the conduit with each whip to the equipment area.
- Low-Voltage Transformer (1): Installed to step power down appropriately for the pool lighting system.
- GFCI Receptacle + Bubble Cover: Weather-resistant, in-use protection for safe outdoor operation and maintenance.
The installation followed manufacturer diagrams and current code requirements for pool-related equipment, with clear labeling to make future service simple.
Breakers and Protection Added
To deliver proper capacity, selective coordination, and safety for wet-location equipment, our team installed and configured the following breakers:
- 60A Double-Pole
- 20A GFCI Double-Pole
- Two 15A GFCI Double-Pole
- 20A Single-Pole
- 15A Single-Pole
GFCI protection and correct grounding practices are essential around pools. These upgrades help reduce nuisance trips while providing the safety layers required by code for equipment and lighting circuits.
Permits, Inspections, and Code Considerations
This Salisbury project was fully permitted and inspected. Our scope included coordinating the electrical permit, installing the customer-supplied control panel with the code-required receptacle, and ensuring all pool circuits within our scope were terminated to meet applicable safety standards for pool environments.
Because pool systems combine line-voltage and low-voltage components, careful transformer placement, correct conductor sizing, GFCI protection, and proper equipment bonding/grounding per scope are all critical to a safe, long-lasting installation.
Change-Order Note on Feeder Wiring
Feeder wire was not included in the initial estimate and will be added as a change order depending on the distance from the main panel. The homeowner is pursuing a broader electrical upgrade, and our team will size and route feeder conductors accordingly once final distances and service upgrade details are confirmed.
