Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a residential Level 2 EV charger installation in Indian Land, SC on August 30, 2024. Our licensed technician, Brian Cain, delivered a safe, code-compliant solution that gives the homeowner fast, reliable charging at home.

This EV charging upgrade was permitted and inspected, and it included assistance with the Duke Energy rebate to streamline reimbursement and lower the homeowner’s out-of-pocket cost.

What we installed

To support Level 2 charging, we provided a dedicated 240-volt circuit designed for the homeowner’s EV and charging equipment. The scope included:

Dedicated 50-amp circuit protected by a 50A standard breaker, sized for common Level 2 EV charger loads.
6/2 NM-B Romex wiring for the run from the panel to the charger location, installed neatly and secured per code. Junction box included where required.
EV charger connection via either a hardwired hookup or a 240V receptacle, following the manufacturer’s specifications and NEC guidelines.
Panel labeling and testing to verify correct operation of the new circuit and the EVSE connection.

The result is a clean, dependable installation that charges faster than a standard 120V outlet and is ready for daily use.
