Recessed Wafer Lighting Installation & Dimmer Switch in Charlotte, NC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a clean, efficient lighting upgrade for Beth Davis’s master bedroom in Charlotte. On December 5, 2025, technician Cash Divver installed four 6-inch LED wafer can lights and a new dimmer switch, carefully tapping the existing switch location at the bedroom entrance to control the new lighting without adding another wall box.

What We Installed

4x 6-inch LED wafer can lights: Low-profile, long-lasting fixtures ideal for tight or shallow ceiling spaces and retrofit applications.
1x Dimmer switch: Provides smooth light-level control by adjusting voltage to the new fixtures for custom ambiance.
NM-B Romex 14/2 (approx. 45 ft): Suitable for 15-amp lighting circuits; includes any required junction box for neat, secure connections.

We recommended locating the wafers at the room’s corners to distribute light evenly and minimize shadows—an effective approach for master bedrooms where comfort and versatility matter.

How We Completed the Installation

Attic routing: The attic above the bedroom had no major obstructions, allowing efficient cable runs and optimal placement of the four wafer lights.
Safe power source: We tapped the existing switch that controls the room’s switched outlet. This provided a clean control point for the new lights and eliminated the need to cut in an additional wall box.
Secure wiring: NM-B 14/2 was run neatly to each fixture location, with proper support and junction containment as required.
Finishing and testing: After setting trim and aiming for balanced spacing, we installed the dimmer, verified smooth dimming across the full range, and confirmed even illumination throughout the room.

The result is a modern, low-profile lighting layout with convenient dimming—perfect for reading, relaxing, or bright task lighting when needed.
