Project overview: recessed lighting, outlets and switches in Charlotte, NC
Our Charlotte branch, based out of Matthews, completed a Lighting & Ceiling Fans project for QC General Contractors in Charlotte on November 18, 2025. Technicians Theo Coetsee and Robert Sloan installed modern recessed wafer lighting, new outlets and light switches, and a dedicated circuit for a customer’s mini-split system. The work was performed under a county electrical permit, and our team coordinated the required inspections for safe operation.
This lighting installation delivered brighter, more even illumination while adding convenient power access and reliable HVAC circuit capacity—an efficient upgrade for a busy Charlotte jobsite.
What we installed
- 8 recessed wafer can lights (6-inch): Low-profile, energy-efficient wafer fixtures ideal for tight or shallow ceilings. These modern “canless” lights provide smooth, uniform light with a clean, finished look.
- 4 light switches: Standard switches for lighting control, set up to suit the space layout (2-way/3-way/4-way as applicable).
- 5 standard receptacles: New outlets with covers to increase safe, convenient access to power around the workspace.
- 1 customer-supplied fixture: Installed a simple ceiling light/fan on an existing box as part of the Lighting Installation scope.
- Dedicated mini-split circuit: Ran a new 20-amp, double-pole circuit specifically for the customer’s mini-split heat pump to support reliable heating and cooling without overloading existing circuits.
- Mini-split appliance connection: Completed the power connection for the customer-supplied equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements and local code.
- Electrical permit and inspections: Secured the county electrical permit and arranged inspections to verify code compliance for the new work.
Materials and methods for a code-compliant finish
- THHN #12 conductors: Approximately 55 feet of copper conductors sized for a 20-amp circuit to serve the dedicated load.
- 3/4-inch PVC conduit: About 49 feet of conduit with fittings and supports for a neat, protected raceway.
- 20-amp double-pole breaker: Installed in the panel to feed the new dedicated circuit for the mini-split system.
Our team follows the National Electrical Code and local Charlotte, NC amendments for conductor sizing, device placement, equipment listing, and working clearances. We also verify mounting heights, support, and device terminations for long-term safety and performance.
