Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh team completed a Panels & Service Upgrades project for homeowner Josh Briggs on April 12, 2024. Led by technician Cody Perry, we installed a whole-house surge protector at the main electrical panel, upgraded a 20A AFCI breaker serving multiple circuits, and performed our Gold Annual Home Safety Check. This service helps protect sensitive electronics, improve fire safety on branch circuits, and confirm the overall health of the home’s electrical system.
What We Installed and Upgraded
- Whole-House Surge Protector: Installed at the main panel to divert excess voltage safely to ground. This reduces the risk of damage from lightning events, utility grid fluctuations, or large appliances cycling on and off—helping extend the life of TVs, computers, HVAC equipment, refrigerators, and other electronics. We mounted and connected the surge protective device and verified operation.
- 20A AFCI Breaker Upgrade: Replaced the existing breaker with a 20-amp Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter serving the dining room receptacle circuit, hallway/foyer, and kitchen receptacles not near sinks or countertops. AFCI technology helps detect dangerous arcing conditions and reduces the risk of electrical fires in living areas.
- Gold Annual Home Safety Membership Check: We inspected smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, evaluated panel safety, checked for loose/worn/deteriorated connections, sealed connectors where appropriate, and reviewed recent code updates. This proactive visit is designed to catch small issues before they grow into costly problems.
