Level 2 EV Charger Install in Raleigh, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh team completed a permitted, code-compliant Level 2 EV charger installation for Karen Berney on May 21, 2026. Led by technician Gustavo Peralta, the project included a new dedicated 50A circuit, a clean conduit run, and a professional appliance hookup for the customer-supplied charger. This service page highlights the scope of work and what homeowners in Raleigh can expect when choosing us for reliable, safe EV charging.
What We Installed
- 3/4 in PVC Conduit (approx. 10 ft): Installed with the appropriate connectors and fittings to protect the conductors and provide a neat, durable pathway to the charging location.
- #6 THHN Conductors (approx. 15 ft): Properly sized copper conductors pulled for a high-demand Level 2 charging circuit.
- 50A Breaker: A dedicated 2-pole 50-amp breaker added at the service panel to supply the charger safely and reliably.
- Appliance Hookup – Level 2 EV Charger: Customer-supplied charger connected to the new circuit during the same visit; includes either a dedicated receptacle or a direct hardwire connection as appropriate for the equipment.
- Electrical Permit: Electrical permit filed with the local authority to ensure the work meets applicable codes and local requirements.
Our Raleigh electricians verified panel space, routed the conduit for a clean appearance, secured terminations, and clearly labeled the new circuit so the homeowner can identify and operate the charger with confidence.
Why a 50A Level 2 Circuit?
Level 2 EV charging operates on 240V and offers significantly faster charging than standard household outlets. Many residential EV chargers pair well with a 50-amp circuit, allowing for robust charging performance while maintaining safe operating margins. The #6 THHN conductors and 3/4 in PVC conduit used on this Raleigh project provide a dependable, scalable setup for everyday home charging needs.
