On January 22, 2026, Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh team completed a permitted, code-compliant Level 2 EV charger installation with whole-home surge protection for homeowner William Bourne in Raleigh, NC. Lead technician Brad Williams handled the project from permitting to final hookup, delivering a clean, reliable charging solution and added protection for the home’s electrical system.
This project combined a dedicated 60-amp EV charging circuit with a professionally installed surge protective device (SPD) at the main panel—ideal for safer, faster home charging and long-term protection against voltage spikes.
What We Installed
- Electrical permit: Filed with the local authority for inspection and compliance.
- Dedicated 60-amp breaker: Properly sized for the Level 2 EV charger and installed on its own circuit.
- Owner-supplied Level 2 EV charger: Professionally mounted and connected per manufacturer specs and current electrical code.
- New circuit wiring: Approximately 30 ft of #6 THHN copper conductors routed in about 20 ft of 3/4" EMT conduit with fittings, connectors, and LBs as required.
- Whole-home surge protection: SPD installed at the main electrical panel to divert excess voltage safely to ground.

Permit and Compliance Notes
