Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a code-compliant power and controls installation for Carolina Cremation Services in Raleigh, NC. Led by Matthew Castello, our team installed dedicated 230V/3‑phase and 115V circuits, added new breakers, ran EMT and metal flex conduit, and connected the cremation unit per the manufacturer’s specifications. Work was completed on March 13, 2026 under an approved electrical permit.

Project Overview
Our Raleigh electricians provided a turnkey power solution from the existing service disconnect and 3‑phase panel to the cremation unit’s control system and equipment connections. We followed the equipment manufacturer’s installation requirements and local code to ensure reliable startup and safe operation.
- Routed from the service disconnect to the control cabinet, then across to a 10x18 junction box mounted on top of the machine.
- Installed dedicated 3‑phase and 115V circuits with appropriately sized breakers as specified by the equipment documentation.
- Ran new EMT and metal flexible conduit with all required supports, connectors, and fittings.
- Made final terminations and connected the cremation unit as a major appliance installation.
- Labeled the new circuits and provided end‑of‑job documentation.
Note: The existing service disconnect panel was observed to be in fair condition and may need future replacement; we documented this for planning purposes.
Materials and Methods
- Conduit and supports: Approximately 30 ft of 3/4" EMT and 30 ft of 2" EMT with straps, LBs, and connectors; 1" and 2" metal flexible conduit for equipment connections; deep strut and double strut for secure raceway support.
- Circuit conductors: THHN #6 (about 60 ft) for high‑demand conductors; THHN #12 (about 10 ft) and MC 12/2 (about 25 ft) for branch and control circuits.
- Breakers: Installed new, properly sized breakers in the existing 3‑phase panel per the equipment’s electrical requirements.
- Appliance connection: Major appliance hookup and system integration to the control cabinet and top‑mounted junction box.
This installation was performed by a two‑person crew (one technician and one wireman) over multiple days to accommodate equipment placement, routing, and testing.
Permitting and Code Compliance
We filed an Electrical Permit with the county and executed the work to current code and the manufacturer’s instructions. Please note: jurisdictions may require additional non‑electrical permits (such as zoning, environmental, historic preservation, or builder/subcontractor permits). Our scope included the electrical permit only. If other permits are required by your jurisdiction, we can advise on next steps and provide a separate proposal for processing those items if requested.
