Pool Pump Circuit & PVC Conduit Installation in Durham, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a Specialty pool and hot tub electrical project for Ground Works - Raleigh in Durham. Our licensed team, led by technicians Gray Gorrell and Francisco Martinez, installed a protected conduit path and fished conductors to provide a safe, code-conscious hookup for a basement salt pool pump. The work was completed in August 2026.
Project overview
For a saltwater pool environment in Durham, we ran 3/4-inch PVC conduit from the existing main electrical panel to the basement pump location. This approach provides durable protection against moisture and corrosion while keeping the pool pump circuit neatly routed, secured, and ready for reliable operation.
Because this installation interfaces with customer-owned pool equipment in a wet environment, we provided a standard liability waiver for review and signature prior to energizing the final connection.
Scope of work
- Planned a clean, serviceable route from the main panel to the basement pump location with minimal disruption to finished areas.
- Installed approximately 30 feet of 3/4-inch PVC conduit with the appropriate connectors, LBs, and supports for a secure and tidy pathway.
- Fished conductors through hard-to-reach areas (about 20 feet) to complete the circuit path while protecting existing structures and finishes.
- Provided labeling at termination points to simplify future service and maintenance.
- Performed functional checks to help ensure a dependable connection for the salt pool pump.
- Utilized an Electrical Assistant to maintain safety, speed, and quality during conduit routing and wire fishing.
Why PVC conduit for a salt pool pump?
- Corrosion resistance: PVC stands up well in damp, salt-influenced areas common to pool equipment rooms.
- Physical protection: Conduit shields conductors from abrasion and incidental contact in basements and utility spaces.
- Neat, serviceable installs: Defined raceways create a clean look and simplify future upgrades or troubleshooting.
- Code-conscious choice: PVC is a suitable solution for many wet-location applications when installed per manufacturer instructions and electrical code requirements.
Challenges solved on this Durham project
- Tight pathways: Our team carefully planned and executed a route through confined and finished areas, using LBs and strategic supports to keep the run accessible and clean.
- Hard-to-reach fishing: With specialized fishing tools and techniques, we pulled conductors through difficult transitions without damaging surrounding finishes.
- Coordination and safety: An additional assistant helped maintain safe handling of conduit sections and streamlined the installation timeline.
