Pool Equipment Electrical Installation in Asheville

Touchstone Electric completed a pool equipment electrical installation for Signature Luxury Pools in Asheville. The work included installing a customer-supplied pool control panel and connecting electrical service for a pool pump, heater, and related equipment components. Technician Chris Rogers performed the installation with attention to the equipment layout, manufacturer connection requirements, and pool electrical safety considerations.

Pool systems rely on properly coordinated power, controls, grounding, and bonding. From the control panel to the equipment pad, each component must be connected correctly to help support dependable operation and a safer pool environment.

Pool Control Panel and Equipment Hookups

The project included installation of the pool control panel, along with a required receptacle and breaker connection at the main electrical panel. The control panel serves as the central point for distributing power to pool equipment and controls.

Our Asheville pool electrical work included hookups from the control panel to pool-area equipment. Connections were completed according to applicable manufacturer diagrams, including provisions for equipment controls and low-voltage relays where required. The installed equipment connections supported the pool pump, heater, and associated system components.

  • Installation of a customer-supplied pool control panel
  • Electrical connection for one pool pump
  • Electrical connection for one pool heater
  • Equipment hookups from the pool control panel
  • Specialty receptacle installation with cover
  • Electrical permit and inspection coordination included in the project scope

GFCI Protection and Dedicated Breakers

Electrical protection is especially important around pools and outdoor equipment. This installation included multiple breakers to serve the pool system and related electrical loads, including 15-amp and 20-amp GFCI breakers as well as standard branch breakers. GFCI protection is designed to help reduce electrical shock hazards in locations where moisture and water exposure may be present.

The completed work included a 15-amp double-pole GFCI breaker, 20-amp GFCI breakers, a 20-amp standard breaker, and a 15-amp standard breaker. THHN conductors were also installed to support the required 20-amp circuit connections.

Pool Bonding and Grounding in Asheville

A key part of this project was establishing the pool bonding system. Our team installed a bonding halo using #8 bare copper and connected it to the pool equipment grounding lug. Pool equipment was bonded as part of the installation in alignment with NEC 680.26 bonding requirements.

Bonding and grounding are not interchangeable, but both are essential parts of a well-planned pool electrical installation. Proper bonding helps keep conductive pool components at the same electrical potential, while grounding provides a path for fault current. Touchstone Electric evaluates these critical details when completing pool and hot tub electrical work throughout the Asheville service area.

Electrical Planning for Pool Covers and Future Equipment

The project scope allowed for an automatic pool cover power connection within the standard equipment-pad distance. If a remote cover controller is needed beyond that area, additional materials or labor may be required based on the final controller location and routing needs.

Whether you are installing new pool equipment, updating an existing equipment pad, or preparing for controls, heaters, pumps, and cover systems, Touchstone Electric can help coordinate the electrical side of the project. We appreciate Signature Luxury Pools for choosing our Asheville team for this completed pool equipment installation.
