Professional Pool Electrical in Tryon, NC
Touchstone Electric completed a specialty pool electrical project for Signature Luxury Pools in Tryon, NC on April 19, 2024. Led by technician Jake Keele from our Charlotte branch, this job delivered safe, code-compliant hookups, clean equipment integration, and dedicated surge protection for a high-end pool system.
Our team connected line-voltage power from the automation panel to each piece of equipment and coordinated with the pool contractor to ensure a smooth startup and inspection process.
What We Wired and Protected
- Hayward OmniLogic Panel – Primary control and power distribution for the pool system.
- (2) Variable-speed pumps – Integrated to the control panel; GFCI breakers were supplied by the contractor.
- Booster pump – Dedicated power connection per manufacturer specifications.
- Gas heater – Branch-circuit power connection for safe and reliable operation.
- Air blower – Properly sized circuit and terminations from the control panel.
- LED light transformer – Line-voltage supply to the transformer for pool lighting.
- Jandy Levelor Controller – Power connection and coordination with the automation system.
- Intermatic PS3000 Surge Protector – Whole-equipment surge protection installed to help shield sensitive controls, pumps, and lighting circuits.
Scope of Work and Coordination
- Ran and terminated conductors from the pool control panel to each piece of equipment, following manufacturer diagrams for a clean, reliable layout.
- Integrated equipment controls and relays as required by the automation design.
- Worked with the pool contractor on system responsibilities: the contractor supplied GFCI breakers and handled all low-voltage terminations and LED light connections to the transformer.
- Filed the county electrical permit and scheduled the required inspections.
- Labeled circuits and documented equipment connections to streamline commissioning.
This division of responsibilities ensured the electrical system was ready for final startup and verification while maintaining a safe, code-compliant installation.
Why Surge Protection Matters for Pools
Modern pools rely on sensitive electronics—automation panels, variable-speed drives, heaters, and lighting. The Intermatic PS3000 surge protective device adds an extra layer of defense against voltage spikes and storm-related surges, helping extend equipment life and reduce nuisance failures. Installing surge protection at the equipment pad is a smart investment for Tryon homeowners and builders who want reliable performance season after season.
Permits, Inspections, and Code Compliance
As part of this project, Touchstone Electric obtained the electrical permit and coordinated inspections with the county. Our team follows current electrical codes and manufacturer requirements to deliver safe, professional results that pass inspection the first time.
