Pool and Hot Tub Electrical in Fairview, NC

On March 13, 2025, our Charlotte team from the Matthews branch completed a specialty pool and spa electrical project in Fairview, NC for Signature Luxury Pools. Lead technician Chris Rogers installed new GFCI protection, wired multiple pieces of pool equipment, and set up customer-supplied transformers and lighting for a safe, code-compliant finish.

Scope of Work Completed

To provide robust protection around water and ensure reliable operation of the pool and spa systems, we supplied and installed the following breakers and circuits:

  • 60A double-pole GFCI breaker for the pool heater
  • 20A double-pole GFCI breaker for the main circulation pump
  • Two 15A double-pole GFCI breakers serving the gas heater controls and booster circuit
  • 20A single-pole breaker feeding a GFCI-protected circuit in the pool area
  • 15A single-pole breaker dedicated to the pool’s PDA/automation system
  • 15A double-pole GFCI breaker for a small outdoor condenser or well-pump circuit

In addition, our crew integrated lighting systems and equipment hookups:

  • Installed two customer-supplied low-voltage transformers — one for the pool lights and one for the spa lights
  • Pulled and terminated power from transformers to all pool and spa light locations
  • Completed five equipment hookups from the pool control panel (including low-voltage relays per manufacturer diagrams) for the circulation pump, heater, booster, gas heater controls, and the automation module
  • Wired five pool/spa lights using customer-provided fixtures and whips; Touchstone Electric supplied and installed THHN equipment grounding conductors through conduit to each light

To keep the project on schedule and maintain a tidy jobsite, an electrical apprentice supported our wireman and technician throughout the installation.

Built-In Safety with GFCI Protection

Water and electricity demand extra care. Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection is essential around pools and spas to reduce shock risk and satisfy modern electrical codes. By installing properly sized double-pole and single-pole GFCI breakers, we protected 240V and 120V circuits serving pumps, heaters, and lighting. Each breaker was labeled, torqued to spec, and function-tested to confirm fast and reliable tripping.

Code-Compliant, Manufacturer-Specific Wiring

  • Followed manufacturer diagrams for all pool controls and low-voltage relay terminations
  • Used wet-location fittings, corrosion-resistant materials, and proper conduit methods at the pool equipment pad
  • Separated lighting transformer outputs from line-voltage conductors and verified correct bonding and grounding
  • Completed final checks for correct amperage, voltage, GFCI functionality, and clear circuit labeling

The result is a neat, professional installation that’s ready for reliable daily operation and future maintenance.
