Project overview
Our Raleigh branch completed an outlet installation and kitchen wiring service for a homeowner in Pikeville, NC. On this visit, our electrician, Gustavo Peralta, installed a standard receptacle and ran new 12/2 NM-B cable to support a dedicated 20-amp kitchen circuit. The site was not fully ready for final tie-in, so a return visit has been scheduled to complete the remaining steps. Date of service: February 20, 2026.
Work performed during the visit
- Standard receptacle installation: Provided and installed a code-compliant, residential-grade outlet with matching cover plate at the designated location.
- 12/2 NM-B wiring (approx. 20 ft): Pulled and secured new 12/2 cable to serve a 20-amp kitchen branch circuit suitable for small appliances and general-use countertop outlets. This included placement of a junction box as needed for a clean, serviceable connection.
- Site readiness and scheduling: A trip charge applied because the project area was not fully ready for all planned tasks. We scheduled a prompt return visit to complete final terminations and any additional scope approved by the customer.
Why 12/2 NM-B for kitchen circuits?
Kitchens commonly require 20-amp branch circuits to safely supply high-demand appliances and multiple countertop receptacles. Using 12-gauge conductors (12/2 NM-B) provides the capacity and durability these circuits need when installed to code.
