- UF 14/2 wire, 50 ft: Installed direct-burial feeder for a 15A circuit to supply outdoor lighting power needs.
- Professional trenching, 50 ft: Excavated and backfilled a trench at approximately 18–24 inches in depth for cable protection.
- Floodlight diagnostic: Assessed existing floodlights to identify issues impacting performance and safety.
- Fan/light switch leg: Added a dedicated switch leg to improve control of a combined fan/light setup.
- Attic exhaust fan service: Performed service work to support reliable attic ventilation and system longevity.
How We Installed the Outdoor Power Run
For the exterior lighting circuit, our team used UF #14/2 direct-burial cable, appropriate for 15-amp outdoor runs. We trenched approximately 50 feet to house and protect the cable. As a best-practice safety note, direct-burial conductors are typically installed with a minimum cover of 24 inches, or may be reduced to 12 inches when GFCI-protected, depending on the specific installation and local code allowances.
The trench was opened and backfilled to maintain yard appearance and minimize disruption. Prior to any digging, homeowners should call 811 to have underground utilities marked; this step helps ensure a safe and incident-free trenching process.
Scope clarification: this trench-and-wire task provided the underground feeder only. It did not include new breakers, posts, or installation of fixtures, receptacles, or switches beyond the listed items for this visit.
Floodlight Diagnostic and Interior Control Upgrades
Existing floodlights were evaluated for issues such as failed lamps, compromised connections, or control wiring concerns. Based on findings, we provided guidance on next steps to help the homeowner achieve consistent, code-compliant illumination and coverage.
Indoors, our electrician added a fan/light switch leg, separating or improving control for a ceiling fan/light combination. Clear switching helps with comfort and energy management by letting the homeowner run the fan and light the way they prefer.
Attic Exhaust Fan Service
