Basement Circuit and PVC Conduit Installation in Chapel Hill, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh team completed a clean, code-compliant installation to bring reliable power from a garage panel down to a basement in Chapel Hill, NC. On this project, our electrician Cody Perry routed a new circuit using 3/4-inch PVC electrical conduit along the garage and into the basement, then carefully fished conductors through hard-to-reach areas to finish the run. Completed on November 6, 2025, this upgrade ensures the homeowner has a safe, dedicated pathway for future basement power needs.
Project Overview
The homeowner, Sarah Kazdan, needed a new basement circuit sourced from the garage panel. Because the path required moving from the garage to a lower level, the best solution was to install exterior-rated PVC conduit outside the home and enter the basement at the optimal access point. Our team installed approximately 80 feet of 3/4-inch PVC conduit with the appropriate mounting hardware, connectors, and LB fittings, and completed about 40 feet of wire fishing through tight spaces to deliver a neat, dependable result.
What We Did
- Assessed the garage panel and basement layout to plan a safe, efficient route for the new circuit.
- Installed 3/4-inch PVC electrical conduit on the exterior path where needed, securely mounted and neatly aligned.
- Used LB bodies and connectors to maintain accessibility at bends and transitions, improving serviceability.
- Carefully drilled and sealed penetrations to help protect against moisture and drafts where the conduit entered/exited.
- Fished new conductors through about 40 feet of hard-to-reach areas, minimizing drywall disturbance.
- Verified terminations and labeling at the panel and the basement endpoint to support safe future use.
- Completed all work to current electrical code requirements for a professional, long-lasting installation.
Why PVC Conduit and a Dedicated Path Matter
- Protection and durability: PVC conduit helps shield wiring from physical damage and the elements during exterior transitions.
- Clean routing: A defined path from the garage panel to the basement reduces clutter and future troubleshooting time.
- Safety and compliance: Proper fittings, supports, and terminations keep the circuit compliant and reliable.
- Future flexibility: Clear labeling and accessible LB fittings make maintenance and upgrades more convenient.
