Scope of Work Completed
We delivered a turnkey upgrade to modernize the home’s service equipment and improve safety and capacity:
- New 200A meter base: Installed and properly mounted to serve as the central point for utility power delivery.
- Riser with weatherhead (IMC conduit): Rigid metallic (IMC) conduit was installed from the meter base up to a new weatherhead for a durable, code-compliant service drop connection.
- Secure mounting hardware: New straps and supports to protect and stabilize the service riser.
- Roof boot: Weather-sealed roof penetration to keep the service mast watertight and protect the home’s structure.
- Service entrance cable: New conductor from the meter up to the weatherhead for a clean, dependable service run.
- Grounding system upgrade: Installed ground rods and grounding electrode conductors to establish a low-impedance path and meet current requirements.
- Permitting and inspections: We handled local permits and coordinated inspections to keep the project on schedule.
- Utility coordination: Scheduled the power drop with the local utility to safely perform the changeover.
Note: Feeder and conduit to main panels (if required by scope) were not included in this service upgrade.
Permits, Utility Coordination, and Outage Planning
Our team coordinated with the utility to safely de-energize and re-energize the home during the installation window. We also managed the permitting process from start to final inspection, helping the homeowner avoid delays. Upon request, Touchstone Electric can provide a generator for limited power usage during the outage window to keep essentials running.
