Lighting installation for a Charlotte, NC bathroom and living area
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (based in Matthews) completed a Lighting & Ceiling Fans project for Re-Bath Charlotte on June 11, 2026. Led by technician Mark Alaev, our team installed new lighting, modern controls, and safety upgrades to improve comfort, ambiance, and code compliance in this Charlotte home.
What we installed
- Three light fixtures installed on existing boxes and circuits (customer-supplied), including a customer-provided exhaust fan.
- One 6-inch wafer can light added to deliver clean, low-profile illumination in a tight space.
- New dimmer control paired with the wafer can light for adjustable brightness.
- Switch updates: three standard switches replaced/installed for reliable operation.
- GFCI receptacle installed for enhanced electrical safety in a moisture-prone area.
- Targeted rewiring: NM-B 14/2 and 14/3 conductors used as needed for the updated lighting and controls.
- Selective removal of old wiring supporting eliminated fixtures to keep the system neat and code-compliant.
- Bath fan circuit adjustments to support the layout, which included removing one receptacle and relocating another.
- Electrical permit filed with the county to document the upgrades and facilitate inspection where required.
This Lighting Installation project focused on boosting functionality and aesthetics while ensuring every device is properly protected and documented.
Why wafer can lights and dimmers are a smart choice
- Low profile: Wafer LEDs fit where traditional cans often can’t, ideal for tight or finished spaces.
- Even, modern light: Delivers clean illumination and a contemporary look.
- Control and comfort: Dimming tailors brightness for tasks, relaxation, or nighttime use—while helping manage energy use.
Safety and code-forward details
GFCI protection helps safeguard against ground faults in locations exposed to moisture—an essential upgrade for bathrooms and similar areas.
Touchstone Electric obtained an electrical permit for this work. Jurisdictions may require inspections to verify compliance with local and national codes; our permitting process supports a smooth path to approval.
Notes about drywall and permitting
Drywall access: To fish new wiring or set devices in optimal locations, small drywall cuts may be necessary. Touchstone Electric is not responsible for drywall repair, finishing, or painting.
Permit scope: The permit for this job covered only the electrical portion. Other non-electrical permits—such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, separate Subcontractor, or Builder permits—were not included. If additional permits are required, we’ll outline what you may need to handle and can offer pricing to process, notarize, and file non-electrical permits upon request.
