Lighting, Ceiling Fan & GFCI Outlet Install in Rock Hill, SC
Touchstone Electric’s Greenville branch (Taylors) completed a clean, code-minded lighting and fan upgrade for Ivy Creek Pools in Rock Hill, SC on June 27, 2025. Technicians Aaron Caddel and Jose Rodriguez handled the project with careful planning, neat workmanship, and thorough testing.
Project overview
This service call focused on practical comfort and safety upgrades: new wafer can lighting with switches, a customer-supplied ceiling fan, and a dedicated outdoor GFCI outlet with an in-use (bubble) cover for patio convenience. The work was completed on existing boxes and circuits where applicable, with new wiring added as needed for a reliable, tidy finish.
What we installed
- Wafer can lighting: Installed three customer-supplied wafer can fixtures on existing box/circuit locations, providing bright, low-profile general lighting.
- Ceiling fan: Installed one customer-supplied fan on an existing fan-rated box/circuit for improved air movement and year-round comfort.
- Switches: Installed two standard switches to control the new fixtures as specified.
- GFCI patio outlet: Installed a 20-amp GFCI receptacle for outdoor power, plus a weatherproof in-use/bubble cover to protect the outlet when something is plugged in or not in use.
- Wiring upgrades: Pulled approximately 100 ft of NM-B 14/2 for lighting and 100 ft of NM-B 12/2 for the 20-amp outlet as required, with any necessary junction boxes included for safe, accessible connections.
- 15A tandem breaker: Installed a 15-amp tandem breaker to support standard branch circuit needs within the existing panel layout.
All devices were mounted level and secure, connections were torqued to spec, and the system was tested for correct polarity, grounding, and GFCI functionality.
Safety and code-minded workmanship
Outdoor outlets are exposed to weather and frequent use. A properly installed GFCI receptacle with a bubble cover helps reduce shock risk and protects the device from moisture. Our team follows manufacturer specifications and local code requirements for terminations, box fill, support, and conductor protection to keep your installation dependable and inspection-ready.
Electrical panel note and next steps
During the walkthrough, our technicians observed that the existing panel is full. We noted this condition and installed a 15A tandem breaker for standard branch circuits as part of the scope. If an inspector requests capacity changes or if load calculations indicate the need for additional space, we’re prepared to provide a follow-up estimate for panel solutions or circuit reconfiguration.
