Lighting and Ceiling Fan Installation in Charlotte, NC

Our Matthews-based Charlotte branch completed a comprehensive lighting and wiring upgrade for homeowner Karen Nelson in Charlotte, NC on March 31, 2025. Led by technician Danny Bishop, this project modernized multiple rooms with new fixtures, safer countertop power, and properly braced bedroom ceiling fans.

Project Highlights

  • Removed the centered dining room light and installed two new pendant lights for a balanced dining layout.
  • Replaced and updated two existing wall sconces for improved ambiance and style.
  • Replaced the breakfast room chandelier with a new, customer-supplied fixture.
  • In the kitchen, removed three outdated outlets and two cable jacks, then installed three new outlets, one GFCI outlet, and four single-pole switches to support safe, convenient countertop use.
  • Wired, braced, and installed two bedroom ceiling fans, adding dedicated switch control and expanding from 2‑gang to 4‑gang switch boxes for proper device spacing and functionality.
  • Ran new NM‑B 14/2 wiring where needed to support the added devices and switching, neatly integrating with existing circuits and approved junction boxes.

All fixtures were customer supplied and installed on existing circuits where applicable. Our team coordinated layout, mounting heights, and switch locations to fit the home’s design and daily use.

Ceiling Fan Wiring, Bracing, and Controls

For the two upstairs bedrooms, we installed fan-rated bracing to ensure safe support and reduce vibration. Proper bracing is critical when converting a standard light box to a fan location. We also added switches so each bedroom can independently control fan and light functions. The result is quieter operation, safer mounting, and more convenient everyday control.

Kitchen Countertop Power and GFCI Protection

Countertop areas require reliable, code-minded wiring. We removed unnecessary devices and cable jacks, then installed new receptacles and a GFCI outlet to enhance safety around water and appliances. New single-pole switches provide straightforward control for lighting zones, and device spacing in upgraded wall boxes supports heat dissipation and secure wiring terminations.

Dining and Breakfast Room Lighting Upgrades

Swapping a centered dining fixture for a pair of pendants creates visual balance over the table and helps define the space. In the breakfast room, a new chandelier adds style and better light distribution for everyday meals. Updated sconces tie the look together, adding layered lighting and a warmer feel to adjacent spaces.

Neat Access and Careful Routing

To route new wiring and install fan bracing, selective drywall access and attic work were required. Our team planned efficient paths, made clean cuts, and protected adjacent finishes. We left the workspace tidy so any optional finish touch-ups could be handled smoothly.
