Level 2 EV Charger Relocation & Installation in Raleigh, NC

Our Raleigh electrical team completed a permitted relocation of a 50A Level 2 EV charger across a residential garage. The project was handled by Brad Williams from our Raleigh branch and wrapped up on January 2, 2025. All work is covered by our signature lifetime craftsmanship warranty.

Project overview

The homeowner wanted their existing Level 2 charger moved to the opposite side of the garage for better parking access and charging cable reach. We safely de-energized the circuit, relocated the charger, and installed new conduit and wiring so the equipment could be used conveniently and reliably—without visible clutter or trip hazards.

What we did

De-energized and removed the customer’s existing 50A Level 2 EV charger for safe handling.
Planned an efficient route across the garage to the new mounting location with clearances that meet code and manufacturer specs.
Installed new PVC conduit with secure supports, fittings, and sweeps to protect and organize the charging circuit.
Pulled appropriately sized conductors for the 50A circuit and verified grounding and bonding.
Reinstalled and tested the customer-supplied charger, confirming correct voltage, breaker sizing, and GFCI protection as required.
Filed the electrical permit with the county and prepared for inspection.
Labeled the circuit and cleaned the work area for a professional finish.

Materials and code compliance

To support the relocation, we routed new PVC conduit and conductors across the garage and ensured all terminations were torqued to spec. Where needed for load capacity and routing, a 4‑wire cable run between the main panel and subpanel was installed to support the dedicated EV charging circuit. All work follows current NEC requirements and local Raleigh, NC amendments.

Permitting: This project included filing the electrical permit. Note: jurisdictions may require additional non-electrical permits for certain properties or scopes; those are separate from the electrical permit.
