Level 2 EV Charger Outlet Installation in Winston-Salem, NC (50A)
On July 2, 2026, Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch, based in Matthews, completed a permitted, code-compliant Level 2 EV charging outlet for homeowner Phyllis Pancella in Winston-Salem, NC. This project added a dedicated 50-amp circuit and EV receptacle in the garage to power the customer’s Level 2 charger.
Technician Mark Alaev led the install, ensuring clean routing from the basement electrical panel to the garage and delivering a safe, reliable charging solution.

- Dedicated 50-amp breaker added at the existing basement panel for a 240V Level 2 charging circuit.
- 6/3 NM-B (Romex) cable routed approximately the distance needed from the panel, taking advantage of the homeowner’s drop ceiling for an efficient, low-visibility run to the garage.
- Two-gang box mounted in the garage housing an EV receptacle for the customer-supplied charger.
- Neat transitions and secure supports, with penetrations sealed and cable secured in accordance with current electrical code.
- Permitting and inspection handled by our team for a fully compliant installation.
The result is a robust, future-ready Level 2 charging outlet designed for dependable overnight charging and faster top-ups throughout the day.
How the Circuit Was Run
Because the home’s electrical panel is located in the basement, our team utilized the drop ceiling to conceal and support the 6/3 NM-B cable on a tidy pathway from the panel to the garage. This approach minimizes drywall disturbance while protecting the wiring. At the garage, we installed a two-gang box with an EV receptacle positioned for convenient cable reach to the vehicle’s charge port.
All terminations are torqued to manufacturer specifications, and the circuit is clearly labeled for easy identification at the panel.
