Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Charlotte, NC
Touchstone Electric completed a permitted Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC. The project was performed by our Charlotte team from our Matthews branch and completed on October 3, 2025. Technician Christian Cedillos handled the installation and permitting to deliver a safe, code-compliant charging solution that’s ready for daily use and eligible for local rebates.
Scope of Work and Materials
We provided a turnkey setup to power a customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger on a dedicated 240V circuit. The installation included:
- 50A breaker dedicated to the EV charging circuit for reliable, consistent power delivery.
- #6 gauge wiring suitable for a 50A EV application, delivering the capacity a Level 2 charger requires.
- 3/4" EMT conduit professionally mounted with proper fittings and connectors for a clean, durable, and code-compliant pathway.
- Appliance installation of the customer-supplied EV charger, following manufacturer specifications.
- Electrical permit filing with the county to ensure the work meets local codes and inspection requirements.
This combination provides the performance and safety needed for modern EV charging, whether for home or light commercial environments in the Charlotte area.
Permitting and What’s Included
As part of this project, Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit required for the EV charging circuit. Please note that non-electrical approvals (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, Builder, or other specialty permits) vary by jurisdiction and are not included unless otherwise arranged. If additional non-electrical permits are required for your property, we can advise on next steps or provide a separate service to process them.
