Project overview
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a clean, code-compliant Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Sanford, NC. The customer supplied the EV charger; our team provided a dedicated 240V, 60-amp circuit, professional conduit routing, and full permitting. We also guided the customer through the Duke Energy rebate process to help maximize available incentives.
Completed on April 18, 2026, this installation focused on safety, performance, and a tidy finish that blends with the property while meeting electrical code requirements for a high-demand charging load.
Scope of work completed
- Customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger professionally mounted and connected.
- Dedicated 60A, 240V circuit installed with a standard two-pole breaker to support faster Level 2 charging.
- Conductors: Approximately 30 feet of #6 THHN copper conductors sized for a 60-amp load and proper temperature ratings.
- Conduit: About 20 feet of 3/4-inch EMT conduit with proper supports, connectors, and LBs for a durable, neat pathway.
- Liquidtight transitions: Around 4 feet of 3/4-inch liquidtight/flex conduit used where equipment movement or weather protection is needed.
- Permitting: Permit secured and documentation prepared for inspection and utility rebate requirements.
- Labeling and testing: Circuit labeled, terminations torqued to spec, and system function verified.
This build ensures the charger receives stable power, the circuit is correctly sized for continuous EVSE loads, and the wiring method is durable for the long term.
