Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for Michael Patch in Salisbury, NC. On August 4, 2025, technician Viktor Opalko installed the customer-supplied charger on a dedicated 60A circuit with properly sized #6 conductors, secured the required electrical permit, and added whole-home surge protection at the main panel.
This project was handled by our Matthews-based branch serving the greater Charlotte region, with full attention to safety, code compliance, and clean workmanship from start to finish.
What We Installed
- Customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger — mounted and connected per manufacturer specifications (hard-wired or via an appropriate receptacle as applicable).
- Dedicated 60A breaker — provides a reliable, properly sized circuit for modern Level 2 charging needs.
- #6 SEU (3-wire) feeder — approximately 12 feet of conductor installed and routed to meet local code and manufacturer requirements.
- Electrical permit — filed with the county to ensure a fully inspected, code-compliant installation.
- Whole-home surge protector — installed at the main electrical panel to help shield sensitive electronics and appliances from power surges.

Permits, Safety, and Quality
Our team handled the electrical permitting process for this Salisbury installation, scheduled the work to align with inspection requirements, and verified proper terminations, torque, and labeling at the panel and charger location. Covered items typically include major appliances and hardwired electrical equipment protected by the properly connected surge device; security systems and medical equipment are excluded.
