Touchstone Electric’s Taylors branch completed a dedicated 240V Level 2 EV charger installation for homeowner Kevin Deleu in Lyman, SC. The project included a new 50-amp circuit with properly sized conductors in conduit, a standard 50A breaker, and full county permitting to keep the installation safe, reliable, and code-compliant.

Our goal was to deliver a clean, rebate-ready installation that gives faster home charging without overloading the existing electrical system.

Scope of work completed

• Electrical permit: Filed the required electrical permit with the county to ensure the work was inspected and compliant with local code.
• New 50A circuit for Level 2 charging: Added a dedicated 240V, 50-amp branch circuit designed specifically for the customer-supplied EV charging equipment.
• Conductor upgrade: Pulled approximately 35 ft of #6 THHN copper conductors, matched to the circuit rating for dependable performance.
• Conduit routing: Installed about 25 ft of 1-inch PVC conduit with the appropriate fittings, connectors, and supports for a neat, durable run.
• Panel work: Installed a standard 50-amp breaker, labeled the circuit, and verified clear working space and proper terminations.
• Equipment connection: Connected and commissioned the customer’s EVSE during the same visit, verifying correct voltage and polarity.
• Testing and verification: Performed start-up checks to confirm safe operation of the charger and circuit under load.
