Touchstone Electric completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation in Charlotte, NC for Duke Energy - Allumia on March 17, 2025. Led by technician Easton Mitchell from our Matthews branch, this project provided the customer with a dedicated 60A circuit specifically designed to power a Level 2 EV charger reliably and safely.

The scope included installing a new 60-amp breaker, running SEU #6 wiring in protective conduit, and connecting the customer-supplied charger per manufacturer specifications. Our team also handled the required permit for the City of Charlotte and assisted with Duke Energy rebate documentation to help maximize program benefits.

What we installed

Dedicated 60A circuit: Added a new 60-amp breaker in the service panel to support Level 2 charging demands.
SEU #6 wiring: Installed SEU #6 three-wire cable to deliver the appropriate capacity for the new circuit.
Code-compliant conduit: Routed and secured wiring in conduit for safety, protection, and a clean, professional finish.
Level 2 charger connection: Integrated the customer-supplied charger to the new circuit according to manufacturer and local code requirements.
Permit handling: Secured the necessary electrical permit in Charlotte to keep the project compliant from start to finish.
Apprentice-assisted installation: Easton was supported by an electrical apprentice to maintain efficiency and workmanship standards.
