Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Charlotte, NC
Our Charlotte team completed a code-compliant Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy – Allumia. From our Matthews branch, technicians Matt Silber and Chris Rogers delivered a clean, reliable 50A circuit build-out designed for fast home charging and long-term safety. The charger location was set on the back corner of the property, routed neatly from the main electrical panel to the opposite side of the home.
Completed on August 17, 2026, this project was fully permitted and configured to meet current electrical code and local requirements—making it rebate-ready for Duke Energy customers in Charlotte.
What We Installed
- Dedicated 50A GFCI-protected circuit: Installed an Eaton CH 50-amp GFCI breaker for added protection, particularly important for garage and outdoor locations.
- #6/3 NM-B copper wiring: A robust feeder run to support the sustained load of Level 2 EV charging on a 240V circuit.
- Weather-resistant receptacle: A WR-rated outlet with an in-use (bubble) cover to shield the connection from rain and moisture.
- Professional routing: The circuit was routed to the back corner of the home to place the charger exactly where it’s most convenient for daily use.
- Electrical permit and documentation: All work performed under permit with documentation prepared for inspection and rebate submission.
