Lead technician Ben Lively installed a dedicated 50-amp circuit, upgraded the panel for safety, and managed permitting to ensure a clean, code-compliant setup ready for fast home charging.

Safety-first panel rejuvenation

As part of this project, we performed a comprehensive panel tune-up to help prevent nuisance trips and reduce fire risks. Our panel rejuvenation included:

Vacuuming and cleaning the interior of the electrical panel
Re-tensioning loose connections at the ground lugs, bus bars, and main breaker
Confirming neutral and ground bars are properly separated with one conductor per lug
Inspecting for moisture intrusion and re-sealing openings to keep out water and pests
Verifying correct service voltage from the power provider
Applying antioxidant compound on conductors as needed
Testing AFCI and GFCI protection with the homeowner’s consent

These steps support long-term reliability while ensuring the new EV charging circuit is integrated safely with the home’s electrical system.

Permitting and Duke Energy rebate assistance

We handled the electrical permit and scheduled the relevant inspections, so the homeowner didn’t have to. For utility incentives, this project qualified for the Duke Energy EV rebate (up to $1,133), helping to lower the net cost after completion.

Some items—such as certain permit fees and a panel tune-up—are not eligible for utility rebates. We clearly identified which portions qualified and guided the homeowner on timing and documentation so they could receive the applicable rebate from Duke Energy following the installation.
