Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Cary, NC

On July 16, 2026, the Touchstone Electric Raleigh team completed a customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger installation in Cary, NC for Duke Energy - Allumia. This project was configured to meet utility program requirements and qualified for the Duke Energy EV rebate.

Led by technician Brad Williams, our crew provided a clean, code-conscious installation that delivers fast, reliable home charging while preparing the home’s electrical system for current and future EV needs.

What we installed

  • Customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger professionally mounted and connected.
  • Dedicated 240V circuit on a new 60-amp breaker in the main electrical panel to support high-output Level 2 charging.
  • SEU #6 (3-wire) feeder wiring routed in protective conduit for a safe, durable run from the panel to the charger location.
  • Permit secured through the Town of Cary to meet local code and rebate documentation requirements.

This setup provides the amperage headroom many modern EVSEs require, helping reduce charge times and supporting future vehicle upgrades without reworking the electrical system.

Why a 60A Level 2 circuit makes sense

  • Faster charging: A 60-amp circuit can support higher continuous charging output for compatible EV chargers, significantly reducing time to replenish daily miles.
  • Dedicated capacity: A dedicated breaker and feeder help prevent nuisance tripping and keep charging isolated from other household loads.
  • Future-ready: Many newer EVs and chargers benefit from higher-capacity circuits, protecting your investment as technology advances.
  • Code-focused installation: Proper conductor sizing, conduit, and permitting support safety and compliance.
