Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Burlington, NC
On March 5, 2025, Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for homeowner Chris Juengel in Burlington, NC. Lead technician Brad Williams installed a customer-supplied charger on a new, dedicated 50-amp circuit and also ran a new 15-amp basement circuit to power receptacles and a light switch. Scope of Work Completed
- Pulled the electrical permit with the local authority to ensure a fully compliant installation.
- Installed a 50A breaker in the existing service panel to feed the new EV charging circuit.
- Routed new wiring for the EV charger using appropriately sized conductors and protective raceway.
- Installed and connected the Level 2 EV charger (customer supplied), following the manufacturer’s specifications for either receptacle or hardwired termination as applicable.
- Ran a dedicated 15A branch circuit from the garage panel to the downstairs basement to supply the new receptacles and a light switch.

Materials and Specifications
- 50A Standard Breaker dedicated to the EV charging circuit.
- SEU #6 (3-wire) cable – approx. 50 ft for a robust, 60-amp-ready feeder path.
- THHN #6 conductors – approx. 10 ft for transitions and equipment connections.
- 3/4" EMT conduit – approx. 10 ft for clean, protected runs where required.
- 3/4" Liquid-tight/flex – approx. 5 ft for vibration and moisture-prone transitions at equipment.
- 15A branch circuit added to serve basement receptacles and a light switch.
